01

What a stretch mark is

A stretch mark, or stria, is a scar-like line that appears when skin is stretched faster than it can adapt. Growth, pregnancy, weight change, and some medicines can all be involved. New marks are often pink or purple. Older marks become pale and slightly sunken. AB Skin Clinic lists stretch mark treatment and has described laser therapy, microneedling, and topical care as approaches that may be discussed.

Colour can soften with time even without a procedure. Texture rarely returns to unmarked skin. That limit should be clear before you book a series of visits.

02

What creams can and cannot do

Moisturisers improve comfort. Some prescription topicals are discussed for early red marks. No cream reliably erases long-standing pale lines. If a product claims permanent removal, treat that claim with caution. A dermatologist can tell you whether a topical is worth trying or whether the mark is already too mature for it.

03

When a clinic visit is useful

Ask for a review if marks are new and spreading quickly, if they appeared with other symptoms such as easy bruising or weakness, or if you want to know whether a procedure is even suitable. Rapid new marks sometimes need a medical check beyond cosmetics. Cosmetic options, when appropriate, are matched to the colour and age of the mark.

The clinic’s stretch marks page explains evaluation in more detail. People also compare this with acne scar care, which is a different scar pattern and not the same plan.

04

Recovery expectations

Lasers and needling can leave redness for days. Sun on healing skin can darken it, which matters in Hyderabad’s strong daylight. Space procedures away from events if you do not want visible redness in photographs. Pregnancy changes the timing of any procedure, so mention it at the start.

05

What procedures are sometimes discussed

The clinic has publicly mentioned laser therapy, microneedling, and topical treatments for stretch marks. None of these is automatic. Early red marks and older pale marks are photographed and examined separately because colour and texture do not respond in the same way. Microneedling creates tiny channels to stimulate repair. It does not fill a mark like a filler would fill a fold. Laser energy is chosen, when used, for the mark’s colour and the surrounding skin. A series is common. Fading is a fairer word than removal.

People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of keloid scars need that history recorded before anyone talks about devices. Steroid use, rapid weight change, and growth spurts are relevant context, not reasons for blame. If marks are accompanied by muscle weakness, purple stretch marks that appeared suddenly, or other systemic symptoms, the visit may focus on medical causes first.

06

Living with marks while you decide

Camouflage makeup and sun protection are reasonable while you wait. Sun does not cause stretch marks, but it can make colour contrast more obvious. Tight clothing can irritate new marks. Neither observation replaces an exam if you are worried about how quickly marks appeared.

Bring previous prescriptions to the consultation. If a cream was started without a diagnosis, the doctor can say whether to continue it. Comparing your marks with pictures online usually overstates what a device can do, because lighting and skin tone differ.

If a previous clinic suggested a large package before examining the marks, you can ask AB Skin Clinic for an assessment only. You are not obliged to continue a plan that was sold without looking at the colour and age of each mark. Bring those records if you have them. It also helps to note whether the marks are still itchy or still changing colour month to month. Stable pale marks and fresh red marks should not be booked as if they were the same procedure. If you are planning pregnancy, say that before any device is suggested, because timing is part of safety rather than a cosmetic detail.

07

A sensible next step

Photograph the area in daylight if you want a record, then let the doctor examine the skin itself. Bring a list of creams already used. You can book a consultation at KPHB or Manikonda, or read about Dr. S. Madhuri before you visit.
