Dry Skin in Hyderabad Winter: Why November Feels Tight, and What Helps
November in Hyderabad is milder, but cooler nights and indoor air still dry the face and hands. A simple routine helps more than a strong peel.

November dryness in Hyderabad is real, even though the city is not a cold-weather place.
Days are still bright and offices still run air conditioning. Nights are cooler and the air is less humid than in the monsoon. Skin that felt oily in July can feel tight by mid-November, especially on the cheeks, hands, and lips. The fix is usually moisture and fewer strong products, not a deeper peel.
Why does skin feel tight now?
Less humidity means water leaves the surface faster. Hot showers, long AC hours, and foaming washes used since summer strip what is left. A retinoid or acid that was comfortable in humid months can sting once the air dries. That sting is a barrier problem. The skin barrier article explains why a shelf of serums then seems to stop working.
Sun has not switched off. A dry patch still darkens if you skip sunscreen on the commute. The October sunscreen answer holds for November as well.
If the tightness started the week after Diwali, smoke and over-washing may be part of it. The post-Diwali recovery note covers that week separately from ordinary winter dryness.
What should the routine change to?
Keep the steps short enough that you still do them.
- Use a gentle cleanser at night. In the morning, water or the same gentle wash is enough if the skin is not sweaty
- Moisturise while the skin is slightly damp, including the hands and the lip border
- Keep sunscreen in the daytime. A lighter texture is fine if a heavy cream made you skip it
- Pause scrubs and new acids until the sting stops
- Skip very hot water on the face and hands
Lip licking and flavoured balms make a dry lip line worse. A plain balm is enough for weather dryness. If the colour of the lip has changed over months, that is a different question, covered in the dark lips guide.
Should you book a peel for dull winter skin?
Not while the face is cracked or stinging. A chemical peel loosens outer skin. On a damaged barrier that can mean more redness and, on many Indian skin tones, a brown mark afterwards. A light peel is sometimes considered once the skin feels comfortable in a moisturiser again, and only after an examination.

Common questions
Is Hyderabad too warm for winter dry skin?
No. Dryness here comes from lower humidity, air conditioning, and hot water, not from freezing weather. Oily foreheads and tight cheeks can happen on the same face.
Which moisturiser is best in November?
The one you will use that does not sting. A bland cream or lotion, applied on damp skin, beats a long ingredient list. If every product burns, stop actives and get the skin seen.
Can I start retinol because the sun is softer?
Only if your skin is already calm and you can use sunscreen every morning. November sun in Hyderabad still reaches the face on the way to work. Starting a strong retinoid on tight skin is a common reason it peels and marks.
You can book an appointment if the skin is cracked, itchy at night, or not improving after two weeks of a simple routine.
